This journey began when I realized that traditional fitness models often overlook those struggling with chronic pain and fear of injury. The typical “no pain, no gain” mentality fails to acknowledge the need for a more thoughtful, supportive approach. Many individuals feel lost and disempowered in their pursuit of an active lifestyle, often believing they must choose between managing pain and staying active.

HEY! I'M JAN!

I’m a former military member and engineer turned coach, passionate about helping others reclaim their health and joy in movement. This year, I took up surfing with my wife—learning something new at 35 has been an amazing experience! I like to think I’m starting to feel like a pro surfer, but when I watch the videos, I realize I look more like Bambi on ice. But hey, that’s what progress looks like!

When I’m not attempting to surf, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and friends, often relaxing and sharing stories over a good brew at our favorite coffee spots.

My journey into coaching wasn't sparked by a single moment, but by a growing understanding of how powerful our words and mindset can be in creating profound change. I’ve faced my own challenges, from constantly relocating and losing my habits to working long hours as an engineer while ignoring the signs my body was sending me. After enduring back pain and only receiving temporary relief through physiotherapy and painkillers, I learned how flawed our health systems can be. It’s not about blaming anyone—everyone is doing their best—but I’m committed to changing the narrative.

As an Active Life professional, I embody the mission of bridging the gap between healthcare and fitness, empowering individuals to live their lives to the fullest without the burden of pain or limitations. My role is to guide clients toward a deeper understanding of their bodies and minds, enabling them to take ownership of their health journeys. I see myself as a vital part of this movement, dedicated to helping others experience the joy of movement and reclaim their active lives. Together, we can foster a community where wellness is accessible and achievable for everyone.
